Lunch

For those of you that live in the Irvine/Newport Beach area. You have to go to Taco Rosa.

I ordered the shrimp burrito. It was just about the best burrito I've ever eaten. Everything was "light" and not heavy. The shrimp inside was breaded and fried, but there was no trace of oil. The shrimp was fresh and springy. It came with a side of rice. Amazingly the rice wasn't bright red or orange, it was a slight greenish tint.

There is a salsa bar, but the waiter brings a sampling of three to your table. I assume you can get up and go get some more on your own.

There is a open kitchen area where you can watch fresh tortillas being made.

My coworkers ordered the milenesa de pollo and the zucchini quesadilla. Both looked on par in quality as my burrito.

Is this the same place you took me to? It was the worst thing I've ever eaten. The quasadilla (sp?) tasted like a stale tortilla chip with a generic kraft cheese slice placed somewhere in there.
If it's THAT great, maybe I should give it another shot. Perhaps I just went there on a week they didn't bother to clean, and I ordered the wrong thing.

This is the sister restaurant. It is much nicer. The place we went to is Taco Mesa (same owners, two brothers). Taco Mesa in Newport Beach is more fast foody and run down. Taco Rosa is an actual restaurant.
